Round leaves with long petioles. Stems covered with stiff pubescence.

Marshmallow is an exotic annual weed that is dynamic after autumn and winter rains. It is an erect, sprawling or decumbent herb growing up to 50cm high that is covered with rather stiff star-like hairs and is woody at the base.

Primarily occurs in southern Australia. Germinates in spring to autumn and grows rapidly. Flowers August-December. Spring germinating plants may flower when only a few centimetres high and survive over summer to become biennial.
