It has wide leaves with blunt, rounded tips and forms a dense mat which crowds out most other species. The base of the leaves can appear bulbous and slightly purple.
Broadleaf carpet grass is commonly identified as a weed, especially when found growing among fine-textured turf grasses like green couch. Broadleaf carpet grass loves the shade and can also grow in full sun.
